Confessions of a Shopaholic

Even though the the busy streets of Taiwan conveniently tempt me to spend my dolla dolla bills away, I miss the American ways of online shopping. Lately, I have been finding myself browsing through countless sites, wishing I can exchange my credit card number for some cute-ass sweaters. I know what you’re thinking, Taiwan is incredibly hot.. why would I be drawn to sweaters that would make me sweat bullets? Well, even though it feels as if I’m residing in an active volcano, I can’t help but daydream about the future, more specifically about my favorite (non-sweaty) fall/winter season. I can’t wait to leave the humidity and heat and feel comfortable in something super cozy and soft. I’m currently in love with J.Crew’s new sweaters and tops in dots. Too damn cute.

Hoping Island (Keelung, Taiwan)

Yesterday, we (alex&tammy&I) went to explore Hoping Island, (aka 和平島 for those that can read chinese, unlike me) and I guess the tourist attraction would be those interestingly shaped rocks, formed by the crashing waves. I also learned that there are such things as sea cockroaches, which is pretty much the grossest thing ever. After taking countless photos of the ocean, we went on a mini trail around the mountain to take more countless photos of the beautiful view, and in return, I got four big swollen mosquito bites. :( It is so itchy, I really can’t stand it. Besides my very unfortunate misfortune, we got to catch the sunset as it glistened over the water. Very beautiful indeed.

Afternoon Tea

Today, some colleagues and I went to for some “afternoon tea” at Ariel Le Cafe in Q-Square, Taipei. It felt pretty classy, compared to the weekly night market trips I’ve been making. Food wasn’t as great but I guess we paid for a good setting and good service (despite the fact that there was a hair in our Nova Lox Brick Toast thingy.. gross). Afterwards, we went to Zara to look around, and some of us started fooling around with our fancy smartcameraphones. Some took it more seriously than others, but nevertheless, it was a fun day. :)

And before I forget, DARK KNIGHT RISES BATMOBILE!! yeah, photo ain’t great cos of the reflective protective screen… but still! Grool ;) Note to self: Gotta watch this soon!
